When it comes to buying presents for a birthday is always a challenge for me. Today, as a dad I am a faced with a problem of what to buy for my daughter who is about to turn 24 years old.
In order to get some inspiration, I began my search for the perfect birthday present by looking at her star sign. A she is born in March, her star sign is Pisces. The Pisces is the twelfth zodiac sign can be recognised with two fish swimming in opposite directions. I dug a bit deeper and found that the following also reflected her star sign and I hoped they would help with finding a birthday gift
Traits: Imaginative, Kind, Intuitive, Positive, Secretive, Vague, Easily led, Negative.
All this helped a little. But unfortunately it covered everything that I had bought for her in the past. I bought her a ring with her birthstone when she turned sixteen. When she turned 22 I bought her a personalised mug with her star sign on it, an personalised it with a message from me. So therefore in the past I had given her all the expected things.
Throughout her life from being a child to becoming an adult we threw her birthday parties, gave her presents that she wanted and made sure that she was made to feel special on her birthday. But unfortunately this year I have come up unstuck. Today I spotted a Meercat
online, you know the ones from the tv advert. I thought that would make a great gift - perhaps for me, not for her.
Things have become easier with the advent of the internet, a number of online retailers now offer a huge range of unusual birthday gifts
. The internet actually encouraged me to go for a personalised gift
There are a whole host of gifts available online, ranging from personalised calendars, personalised cards, personalised wine to personalised champagne
and engraved gifts. In the end I settled for a personalised bracelet. A piece of jewellery that I would have engraved with her initials, hopefully she’ll wear it all the time and it’ll remind her of her parents and the fact that it was birthday gift for her 24th birthday. I left it quite late, but a lot of online companies offer NEXT day delivery so I managed to sort it out in the end without having to rush to town to find her something! I also managed to dig out an old photo of her when she and her sister we quite small and I had taken the whole family out for the day! She remembers this day quite vividly so I decided to also get a personalised photo frame
, and in this frame I would house this favourite memory of hers!
I guess I am going to have the same problem next year?Date posted: 01/03/2011
